I grew up in Cleveland Heights Ohio and moved to Colorado in 1999.
I have been guiding on rivers since 1995, starting out as a raft guide and kayaker, evolving to a fly fishing guide.
I have fished all over Colorado and neighboring states as well as experienced some saltwater action in Belize. I especially enjoy using Performance Flies tied by my brother Kevin Compton, who is a world renowned fly tier.
Colorado Greenback Cutthroat Trout
I would love to go to Alaska and fish for several different species of fish within a small location experiencing the great diversity of wildlife.
I like to hunt, bike, hike, see live music, make beer, and telemark ski when the rivers freeze over here in Colorado.
Favorite Thing About Guiding:
My favorite thing about guiding is watching the expressions of clients faces when they set the hook and bend the rod, knowing that a half a second quicker may have been better. But once in the net, they knew it was still quick enough. Being out there is living!
