Whether you are preparing for your first solo fly fishing adventure, or you’re looking to add distance to your double haul, you will appreciate the fact that our Fly Fishing Schools are taught by professional guides who specialize in teaching beginners and experts alike. We offer everything from short casting lessons to full-day schools and our expert fly shop staff can help you choose which offering is best for you.

Trip Details

Every Fly Fishing School includes all necessary equipment, course materials, transportation, and an experienced, friendly fly fishing instructor.

Fly fishing classes do not include flies or a Colorado fishing license (required for Half and Full Day Fly Fishing Schools). All class participants over the age of 16 are required to carry a valid Colorado fishing license with them while fishing. Also, we strongly encourage all of our students to purchase their license online the day before their class in order to save time and get to the water sooner.

Fly fishing classes are taught rain or shine, and afternoon showers are common throughout the summer months. Please be prepared with an extra pair of socks, sunglasses, a hat, and a light rain jacket.

At Vail Valley Anglers, safety is our top priority, which is why drugs and alcohol are not permitted in any of our fly fishing classes. We reserve the right to cancel any class that becomes unsafe or unfishable. We will reschedule your class for a future date and try to make accommodations to your schedule, taking into consideration that the summer season is our busiest time of the year.
