Some days, the best fly fishing is done on foot – slowly dissecting each run, riffle, and pool, one step at a time. Our half-day and full-day wade trips are a great way for you and your friends to put on some waders and explore one of Colorado’s world-class rivers. You will get a chance to take an in-depth look at the bugs and fish that live beneath the water’s surface while surrounding yourself with some of the best scenery Colorado has to offer. Wade trips are also a great way for you to work on technique while receiving specific, one-on-one instruction from a professional fly fishing guide.
Most of our guided wade fishing trips take place on either the Eagle or Colorado Rivers near Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts, or on the Roaring Fork River between Aspen and Glenwood Springs. Whether you are a seasoned angler or just trying it out for the first time, visit Vail Valley Anglers to experience some of the best fly fishing in Colorado.
Every guided wade trip includes a clean pair of Simms waders and wading boots, a cooler full of bottled water, fly rods and reels, and an experienced, friendly fly fishing guide. Due to current county and state COVID restrictions on transportation, we currently cannot drive people to and from the river. All full-day trips include a freshly prepared streamside lunch. Lunch can be added to any half-day trip for a fee. Half-day wade trips last up to four hours, 3/4 day trips last up to six hours, and full-day trips provide you with more than six hours of fishing time on the water.
Guided trips do not include your Colorado fishing license or guide gratuity. All trip participants over the age of 16 are required to carry a valid Colorado fishing license with them while fishing. Also, we strongly encourage all of our trip participants to purchase their license online prior to their trip in order to save time and get on the water sooner.
Guided fly fishing trips go out rain or shine, and afternoon showers are common throughout the summer months. Please come prepared with an extra pair of socks, sunglasses, a hat, and a light rain jacket.
At Vail Valley Anglers, safety is our top priority, which is why drugs are not permitted on any of our fly fishing trips. We reserve the right to cancel any trip that becomes unsafe or unfishable. We will reschedule your class for a future date and try to make accommodations to your schedule, taking into consideration that the summer season is our busiest time of the year.
