TENKARA TRIP
Our Tenkara Fly Fishing Trip is a great way to get out of town, enjoy the mountain scenery, wildlife, and some stellar creek fishing. Our guides will take you to various different wilderness areas near the Vail area to fish small creeks, rivers and lakes depending on the time of year and fishing conditions. The small creeks are great for a little hiking and fishing if you desire.
Tenkara is the Japanese method of fly-fishing, in which a rod, line and a fly is all that is needed. It is about as minimalist as it gets for fly fishing. The method is optimal for the smaller streams throughout the mountains here in the Vail area. The simplicity of the technique makes it easy for beginner anglers. With a telescoping rod, the line is attached to the tip of the rod and the leader and fly follow, making it extremely easy to cast to fish. Our Tenkara guides are versed with the techniques and are happy to share their knowledge. For more information check out this blog by Eric Phannenstiel, one of the Tenkara Guides.
The Tenkara Fly Fishing Trip is only offered as a full day trip in order to have enough time to get to the desired fishing area and fully understand the Tenkara Fly Fishing Technique. To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, we limit this trip to a maximum of four people.
